Ask Google and google will spit out SEM based strategies. Search engine marketing, yes that is the paid advertising that pops up based on keywords and financial investment. If you feel you chose the wrong company when contracting a plumber a few months back, blame this advertising tool for that. You clicked on the top ad of the search page. “Cheapest plumber local” And you got what you searched for, but probably did not pay for what they gave you. Lesson learned. Next time you do more research, right? On the second attempt you pick someone with more trustworthy references. On the website you call each reference and ask if they were happy with the job. Do you really? If you say yes to this, I’ll say bullshit to that. Whatever the 0.00001% of people doing this I applaud you. My point is, can you really judge something by its cover?
Takes us further down in the marketing funnel to “organic search result.” What does it really mean to have your business on first page, top search spot? Organic search winner companies are like politicians elected by the people. (that is what it appears to be) Deluded to think top ranking companies deserves top position because of popularity and quality. The truth is Google are not fooling anyone, but agencies are. We go in deep in this one.
There is an everlasting battle between the agencies and google itself. What a consumer pays an agency to do, is to beat the search engines algorithm. Said more sophistically, to clear up the cluster between a website and search technologies, so they can understand and communicate better. The optimal technology purpose is to find as relevant information as possible for the user. While this sounds direct and logic in theory, which works when the user search more specific. But when it isn’t, that’s when the agency needs to hack their clients search ranking score to perform better. By searching ex, hairdresser or just restaurant. Which one should be ranked the highest? Only the search provider knows what they have decided makes a website the most relevant. Some cues to this are keyword`s, text writing that matches the keywords, website traffic, backlinks, website speed and performance, quality such as user-friendly frameworks and importance.
Within these, based-on user effort; Interaction, time spend on the website, sharing on other medias such as social channels. How important is your website manufactured compared to your competitors?
While I am writing about this, what is really in my mind, is questions about conversions. The goal with every market activity, is to have the customer interacting with your design, your presentation and business model. I am writing more about this in my next post, but what I can`t say enough is to find ways to let your market know more about your company. Don’t be a poster when you can be something else more authentic. Modern marketing is just around the corner. The internet is changing from quantity to quality. We all should make a part to contribute for a healthier digital presence on the internet with less noise and with more customer friendly solutions.
